about

Come Flow is the second album by Namid & Sondervan. Their concept and musical challenge remains the same; the improvisation and interaction between a jazz quartet (Namid) and a live coder (Dago Sondervan).
Namid is a jazz quartet, based in Antwerp and founded by saxophonist and composer Vincent Brijs. The musicians are Sara Meyer on alto and tenor saxophone, Maarten Moesen on drums and Fré Madou on double bass. The collaboration with live coder, electronic music producer and drummer Dago Sondervan starts in 2020. Their second album 'Come Flow' is distilled from 2 sessions; both in full lockdown time. The first session was a live stream concert that took place in December 2020 in Jazzcafé De Muze in Antwerp during the 'Ruis' Festival. The 2nd session took place later in June 2021 in Studio Porino in Borgerhout with musician, producer and sound engineer Roel Poriau. In their own words; the album reflects the spirit of the times we live in and the concerns that saxophonist Vincent Brijs, who composed the album, was dealing with at that time; a hopeless perspective with regard to unemployment because no concerts could take place, addiction problems and a break with his partner. The music sounds dark, atmospheric, off-grid, with moments erratic and experimental, but at the same time it feels very floaty; as if you are floating on a pitch-black, bottomless sea, being afraid of what is moving beneath you.
